Laura Sacks wants to change the world, one gift hamper at a time.

Laura, the 154th person I’ve met on my quest to have lunch with 500 strangers, has a wonderful business, Considered Co., that combines gifting with social justice.

Considered Co., which launched in 2020, sells gift hampers. All its suppliers are Australian small businesses that support worthy causes, such as suicide prevention and disability employment. So when you buy a hamper, you’re investing in a gift that gives twice.

On the surface, Laura is an odd fit for a business like Considered Co: she studied engineering and then became a management consultant. But Laura wanted to work on engineering projects that would make a real difference; she interned at hydropower plants and biomedical device companies. And when she became a management consultant, she spent most of her time serving not-for-profit and social impact clients.

So Laura has always wanted to do work that is both profitable and good.

Here are three reasons why I’m sure Considered Co will be a big success. The business has a great story. Laura is very smart. And she’s a caring person who will naturally build many strong, valuable relationships.
