“Life is …”

Now it’s up to you to fill in the blanks.

I got that pearl from Timo Topp, the 67th person I’ve met on my quest to have lunch with 500 strangers.

Timo keeps the “Life is” quote on a Post-it Note, which is stuck on the Wall of Wisdom (see photo) he keeps inside his home.

Sadly, I didn’t get to see the Wall of Wisdom, because COVID-19 meant we had to meet virtually rather than in person.

COVID-19 is … if nothing else, an ice breaker. We began our chat by discussing the current crisis, and agreed that the best response is to remain positive.

“All we can do is take steps to make sure tomorrow is better than today,” I said. Timo got very excited by that remark, so for a moment I thought it was going to qualify for the Wall of Wisdom. But no luck.

Timo is well-spoken and athletic – but when he was 18, he was shy and overweight. If he wanted to improve his confidence and impress the ladies, Timo concluded, he needed to get in shape.

So he took up fitness. And he hasn’t stopped. Timo is a wellbeing expert with 25 years’ experience who does corporate wellness sessions and personal training.

When the crisis ends, we’re going to meet for real.
